Leadership
A Leader in Business
Pat has a history of leadership and service in the business community. He is known for being an innovator and a leader in the business groups with which he has been involved. As a result, Pat has received some of the highest awards of recognition that the groups offer, including the Northern Virginia Technology Council’s CFO of the Year Community Service Award; the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce’s Chairman’s Award; and the Northern Virginia Technology Council’s President’s Award. In April 2007, he received SmartCEO magazine’s Top Chief Financial Officer Award. Pat regularly travels to Richmond to meet with our legislators to promote transportation and tax solutions.
Pat began his career at the Big Eight accounting firm Arthur Andersen and earned his Certified Public Accountant certificate in 1985. He has worked for several fast-growing Fairfax County-based government contractors and gained a reputation as a “go-to” Chief Financial Officer who possesses leadership, management, and financial skills that ensure success in a fast-paced environment. As Springfield Supervisor, Pat plans to put these skills to good use to move Springfield forward.
Pat is currently the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for Arrowhead Global Solutions, Inc., a premier provider of integrated communication solutions. Arrowhead has a consistent record of success in serving the government sector in the areas of satellite and terrestrial communication networks and integrated information technology solutions.
A Leader in the Community
Pat’s history of civic leadership includes involvement with the Fairfax County government, civic associations, and Fairfax County Republican politics.
Fairfax County Government
Pat was a founder and served on the Steering Committee of the Washington Area Conference on Telework—initially hosted by Fairfax County—which promotes telecommuting as one of the solutions to our transportation problems. He also served on Fairfax County’s Information Technology Policy Advisory Committee, where he advocated the use of technology to make the county government more efficient.
Civic Involvement
Pat has a history of leadership in civic associations: He has served on the Open Space Committee of the Little Rocky Run Home Owners Association, has held a leadership position in the White Oaks Civic Association, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Lakeshore Woods Association.
In addition, Pat served on the initial Board of Directors of Win-Win Strategies Foundation, a 501(c)(3) foundation with the goal of advancing education through technology and community-building using peer-to-peer communities of practice. He was also the Treasurer for Kids for Kids, which raised funds at local schools to help famine victims in Ethiopia.
Fairfax County Republican Politics
Pat has served in leadership positions on the Fairfax County Republican Committee. In 2006, he served as the Operations Chair for the Springfield district, where he was responsible for coordinating the election activities of Springfield’s 2006 election cycle. During this time, he gained valuable knowledge of what is involved in organizing and running an election.
Pat is also a member of the Northern Virginia Republican Business Forum.
A Leader for Springfield’s Youth
Pat inspires and leads Springfield’s youth through his involvement in youth sports. Pat has coached youth sports for decades—he began in his teenage years by coaching his West Springfield neighborhood swim team. Since then, he has coached soccer, basketball, and rugby teams for the Southwestern Youth Association. He was also instrumental in the formation of Potomac Inline Hockey Incorporated, an inline hockey program serving youths and adults. He is a former Treasurer of the organization and has served on its board of directors. He was also a founding member of the Potomac Rugby Foundation, which engages the rugby community in charitable work and conducts regular blood drives.
Today, Pat is a coach for several youth hockey programs, including the Reston Raiders, a youth ice hockey house team, and the Virginia Stars, a youth inline hockey travel team. He has coached as many as four teams in one season, due to a shortage of qualified coaches.
Since he was a child, Pat has been passionate about sports. He was an active high-school athlete, and was involved in football, baseball, swimming, and rugby. In addition to captaining West Springfield High School’s swim team, he was devoted to rugby and was elected club president, captain, and coach of his team at various points in his rugby career.
Pat still sets an example for the youths he coaches by remaining active in the sports he enjoyed as a child. He swims and plays ice hockey (he is currently his team’s captain). He also plays rugby on occasion. |
